MAE Center Kicks Off Project with Laclede Gas and CenterPoint Energy

Representatives from the MAE Center, Laclede Gas, and CenterPoint Energy met at Laclede Gas Operations Center in St. Louis, MO to officially kick-off the Center’s seismic loss assessment study for Laclede and CenterPoint. Representing the MAE Center at the meeting were Amr Elnashai, Director and Timothy Gress, Managing Director. Representatives from Laclede Gas included Mark Lauber, Superintendent of Maintenance Engineering, Patrick Seamands, Chief Engineer, and David Poninski, Engineering Assistant. Bill Taylor, Sr. Pipeline Integrity Engineer attended the meeting from CenterPoint Energy.

The purpose of the meeting was to brief Laclede Gas and CenterPoint on the goals and objectives of the projects, discuss project deliverables, and define pipeline inventory requirements. The MAE Center intends to conduct a seismic loss assessment of both Laclede’s and CenterPoint’s gas pipeline networks using the Center’s MAEviz loss assessment, visualization, and decision support software.

Laclede Gas is the primary natural gas supplier to the St. Louis Metro (City of St. Louis and St. Louis and St. Charles Counties) area while CenterPoint Energy operates the primary natural gas supply pipeline that feeds the Laclede gas network. CenterPoint energy’s Mississippi River Transmission interstate pipeline originates from Northeast Texas, crosses Northern Louisiana, and runs up through Arkansas and Missouri to connect to the Laclede distribution network in St. Louis. .
