New Position Announcement: Staff Seismologist/Engineer, Geomatrix Consultants, Inc.

Geomatrix has an opening for a staff level seismologist/engineer in the Geotechnical Engineering and Earth Sciences Group in our Oakland office. An M.S. or Ph.D. in geophysics (emphasis in seismology), or geotechnical engineering (emphasis in earthquake engineering) is required. We are looking for self-motivated candidates who are able to work as part of our seismic hazard analysis team.

Candidates are expected to be familiar with analysis of global earthquake catalogs, relocation of earthquakes, waveform inversion for source mechanism or simulation of wave propagation in a 3-D crustal structure, ground motion attenuation, and response spectral and time history analysis. Proficiency in a programming language such as FORTRAN or C is preferred. Familiarity with current approaches used in probabilistic seismic hazard analysis and strong-motion seismology is required. In addition, training or experience in one or more of the following areas is required: geology, geotechnical engineering, or GIS analysis.

Initial duties are expected to include earthquake catalog analysis, probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, development of response spectra, site response analysis, time history analysis, managing technical aspects of a project, and report preparation. Qualified applicants may apply on our website at www.geomatrix.com.

Geomatrix is an equal opportunity employer. Minorities, females, veterans, and disabled persons are encouraged to apply.
