Jun Ji Joins Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, San Francisco Office

Jun Ji is the most recent MAE Center PhD candidate, who successfully defended his thesis on April 28, 2007. Jun was advised by Professors Dan Kuchma and Amr Elnashai at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He started his professional career on April 2 at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) in its San Francisco office, working on advanced analysis. His MAE Center thesis is entitled "Seismic Fragility Assessment for Reinforced Concrete High-Rise Buildings", and the resulting fragility curves are already implemented in MAEviz. Prior to leaving, Jun commented on the MAE Center by stating, "It was the best opportunity for me to be able to work at the MAE Center which represents the top level of the cutting-edge research in Earthquake Engineering. The wide cooperation with the faculty, researchers, staff and other colleagues improved my capabilities greatly, not only enhancing my knowledge background, but also strengthening my communication and presentation skills."
