MAE Center Study Highlighted at IBHS 2008 Annual Conference
Mid-America Earthquake Center (MAEC) Managing Director, Timothy Gress, and Technical Project Manager, Lisa Cleveland, attended the Institute for Business and Homes Safety Conference in Tampa, Florida, the 13th and 14th of November. Cleveland participated in a panel discussion with several other regional experts on various aspects of Central U.S. Earthquake Risk. The recent MAEC report, Impact of Earthquakes on the Central USA, was the primary topic of Cleveland's presentation during the panel session. Additional panel topics included the seismic hazard risks as well as structural vulnerability and building codes in the central US. The MAEC also participated in the conference as exhibitors which provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the Center's work further with conference attendees, which were members of the insurance industry primarily.
