MAE Center meets with Ameren IP visitors

On May 14, Ameren IP visited the University of Illinois campus. Amr Elnashai, Director, and Timothy Gress, Managing Director, of the MAE Center spoke with them in the morning regarding earthquake research and potential collaboration. Ameren Energy is based in St. Louis, Missouri, but they have operations in several Illinois communities. The team from Ameren consisted of Shawn Schukar (Vice President of Strategic Initiatives), Richard Smith (Manager of R&D), Bob Dodd (Supervising Engineer of T&D Design), George Mues (Principal Engineer), and William Barbieri (Manager, Renewables). Schukar is a member of the University of Illinois College of Engineering Innovation Leadership Advisory Board (ILAB). The Dean of the College of Engineering charges the ILAB to evaluate, develop, and recommend mechanisms that further the impact of the College's considerable technology developments and innovation potential through the identification of engineering research and technology transfer opportunities and to identify creative and forward-looking industry-academic collaborations and partnerships.
