Graduate Research Assistant Field Mission 2000

The MAE Center held a Field Mission Fellowship competition open to all research assistants working on MAE Center research projects. Four students from the seven universities comprising the MAE Center consortium were awarded fellowships. The four award recipients, Duhee Park, Laurel Clark, Omer Erbay, and Peeranan Towashiraporn joined the earthquake engineering class of Imperial College to travel from London to North Athens to the site of the recent earthquake. Their journey concluded with visits to the National Technical University of Athens, Nafpaktos (via Corinth Canal), and the Rion-Antirion Bridge. Dr. Shahram Pezeshk from the University of Memphis traveled with the students as their MAE Center advisor. Each of the award recipients has an impressive background in their field of study and we extend our congratulations to the students for their success and accomplishments.
