Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work

The UIUC Society of Women Engineers (SWE) hosted a “Take Our Daughters/Sons to Work” event on April 28, 2005.  Children of UIUC faculty and staff toured engineering and science laboratories, as well as, participated in various hands-on demonstrations around campus.  The SWE outreach mission is to get children involved and interested in engineering and the sciences. MAE Center graduate student Nick Burdette explored the performance of building structures during an earthquake with the children.  The visitors also watched a video on earthquake preparedness and safety in the New Madrid Seismic Zone.
